CHAPTER 3: The Cell Structure and Their Function

CHAPTER 3

Cell Organization and Their Function

Each cell is a organized unit

Diffusion

Diffusion is the tendency for ion and molecules to move from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.

Osmosis

Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane, such a the plasma membrane

Isotonic solution, Hypotonic solution, Hypertonic solution

The Sodium-Potassium Pump

Moves the sodium into the cell and potassium outside the cell.

Vesicular Transport

A Vesicular Transport is the movement of materials by vesicles into, out of,or within the cell

Mitosis

The DNA replicated during the interphase is dispersed a chromatin. During mitosis, the chromatin becomes very densely coiled to from compact chromosomes .
Mitosis follows interphase. Mitosis is divided into four phase:  prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.

INTERPHASE:

PROPHASE:

METAPHASE:

ANAPHASE:

TELOPHASE:

Cytokinesis

Cytokinesis is the division of the cytoplasm of the cell to produced two new cells. Cytokinesis begins in anaphase through telophase and end in the folloeing interphase.
